About the Founder
Zoya Z began with a feeling.
For as long as I can remember, I carried a dream of building something meaningful, something of my own. I always imagined myself building a successful career, leading something with purpose, and creating an impact. Life had different plans. I became a wife, then a mother, and while I was grateful for every blessing life gave me, that dream of building something for myself never truly left my heart.
Whenever I saw other women succeed in their careers, I was genuinely happy for them, but a small part of me wondered if I had missed my opportunity.
Everything changed when I made one of the most important decisions of my life, to wear the hijab again. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was one I made with conviction.
Soon after, my husband and I took a journey that changed the way I saw my future. During that time, I found myself reflecting deeply on the life I wanted to build and the dreams I had quietly carried for years. For the first time, I felt ready to take a chance on myself and turn that dream into something real.
In that moment, I made a quiet promise to myself:
I wanted to build something of my own. I wanted to create something meaningful and find a path that was truly mine.
At the time, I had no idea what that would look like.
I had no business experience. I didn’t know what I would sell, where to begin, or how any of it would work. All I had was the determination to find my way forward.
Soon after, we traveled to Pakistan.
Looking back, that journey became the true turning point.
That was where my idea began to take shape, and it became the beginning of my journey into modest fashion.
I designed my very first hijab collection, created my first logo, ordered labels, stickers, and packaging, and brought my first products back home.
Like many first time entrepreneurs, I learned quickly that business rarely goes exactly as planned. Suppliers made mistakes, products had to be fixed, and there were setbacks before I even made my first sale.
But I kept going.
Without a website or much knowledge of marketing, I photographed the hijabs myself, posted them on social media, and eventually gathered the courage to attend my very first pop up event.
I still remember how excited I was when I sold my first few hijabs.
To many people, it might have looked like a small achievement. To me, it meant everything.
It was proof that something I had once only imagined could actually become real.
Then life happened.
After the birth of my second daughter, my focus naturally shifted to motherhood. The business slowed down, and eventually I had to pause.
Around the same time, I also discovered that the original brand name I had chosen had already been taken.
Once again, it felt like I was starting over.
Instead of giving up, my husband and I sat down together and started brainstorming.
That is when Zoya Z was born.
My husband created the very first Zoya Z logo, and from that moment, everything began to feel right. We loved the name, loved the vision, and knew we had found something special.
We created new labels, developed new collections, introduced abayas alongside hijabs, and returned to local pop up events.
The response was incredible.
More women discovered the brand, customers returned, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Yet once again, life became busy, and the business paused.
Looking back today, I don’t see those pauses as failures.
I see them as part of the journey.
Each pause gave me time to learn, grow, and understand what I truly wanted Zoya Z to become.
Today, Zoya Z has returned stronger than ever.
What began as a one woman dream has grown into a dedicated team of designers, developers, marketers, project managers, photographers, and family members who all believe in the same mission.
My husband continues to be my biggest supporter, the person who encouraged me when I doubted myself, helped build the foundation of this brand, and stood beside me every step of the way.
Without his support, Zoya Z would not exist.
As I spent more time in the modest fashion industry, I noticed something that stayed with me.
There was a gap.
Too many women were being forced to choose between quality and affordability.
Beautiful hijabs were becoming increasingly expensive. Abayas and modest clothing often carried luxury price tags that many women simply couldn’t justify.
I kept hearing the same thing:
“I want to dress modestly, but it’s becoming too expensive.”
That stayed with me.
I realized I didn’t want to build another brand that charged premium prices simply because it could.
I wanted to build the brand I wished existed.
A brand that offers premium quality without unnecessary markups.
A brand where women can dress modestly, beautifully, and confidently without feeling like they’re breaking the bank.
Because I believe modest fashion should be accessible, not something reserved for those who can afford luxury prices.
If our prices make it easier for one more woman to find a beautiful hijab, wear an abaya with confidence, or for one more family to afford beautiful modest clothing, then we’ve accomplished something far greater than simply selling fashion.
That’s the heart behind Zoya Z.
This brand wasn’t built overnight.
It was built through setbacks, motherhood, learning, patience, second chances, and the courage to begin again.
It was built by continuing forward when things didn’t go as planned, learning from every setback, and believing that a dream can still become reality, even when the journey takes longer than expected.
We’re still at the beginning of our journey, and there’s so much more ahead.
Thank you for being part of our story.
Welcome to Zoya Z.
